Valdy, born Paul Valdemar Horsdal on September 1, 1945, in Ottawa, Ontario, is a renowned Canadian folk and country musician. His career took off in the early 1970s with the release of “Rock and Roll Song,” which became a significant hit. Over the years, Valdy has produced fourteen albums, four of which achieved gold status, and sold nearly half a million copies. His accolades include two Juno Awards for Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year, along with seven additional nominations. Beyond his musical achievements, Valdy made a notable appearance on the CBC TV show The Beachcombers as the environmental activist “Halibut” Stu. Valdy has been living on Salt Spring Island for over four decades and continues to be an active figure in the Canadian music scene, touring extensively and captivating audiences with his storytelling and melodies.
